Why ResiCare for Construction?
Modern construction requires materials that are high-performing, safe, and sustainable. At MICHELIN ResiCare, we are redefining resin technology for wood and insulation applications to meet today's environmental and performance standards.
Our bio-based, non-toxic ResiCare resins are engineered to meet the evolving demands of the construction industry, particularly in wood and insulation applications. Whether used in structural panels or energy-efficient insulation, our solutions deliver mechanical strength, water resistance, and environmental safety without compromising performance.
Designed to replace traditional phenolic and formaldehyde-based systems, our resins are compatible with industrial processes such as thermocompression and spray application. With SVHC-free formulations, ResiCare enables manufacturers to meet and stay ahead of regulatory requirements, improve indoor air quality, and reduce their dependency on fossil fuels.
Resins for Insulation: Performance Meets Sustainability
Resins play a critical role in insulation, contributing to thermal and acoustic efficiency, humidity resistance, and chemical durability. As buildings evolve to meet stricter energy and fire safety regulations, our resins offer a future-proof alternative to traditional petroleum-based systems.
Key benefits of our resin for insulation:
Compatible with mineral and plant-based insulation, such as glass fiber, rock fiber and wood fiber
Suitable for flexible and rigid panels
Water-based and SVHC-free
Spray-applicable for thermocompression
Tunable properties: viscosity, reactivity, pH, pre-crosslinking temperature.
Our resins replace conventional formaldehyde-phenolic and isocyanate systems, helping manufacturers to meet regulatory demands while reducing their environmental impact.
Resins for Wood: Safer Adhesion for Structural and Non-Structural Products
Wood-based construction materials rely on adhesives for strength, durability and versatility. Traditionally, these adhesives contained formaldehyde, phenol, melamine and isocyanates — chemicals that are now being investigated for potential health and safety risks.
MICHELIN ResiCare is changing that.
We develop bio-sourced, Formaldehyde-free resins for Wood Based Panels, in particular Plywood and MDF. Our first commercially available resin for plywood, launched in 2021, is water-resistant and ULEF (Ultra-Low Emission Formaldehyde), paving the way for a future without formaldehyde. We are now developing high-performance, SVHC-free, bio-sourced adhesives that meet 'Class 3' water resistance standards.
Key benefits of our wood resins:
Competitive mechanical performance
Reduced fossil carbon dependency
Compliance with evolving regulations
Safer indoor air quality
Let’s Build the Future of Construction
