ResiCare Resin Solutions for Advanced Manufacturing

At Michelin ResiCare, we design high-performance, sustainable resin technologies compatible with a wide range of industrial processes. Whether you need standard solutions or custom formulations, our expertise ensures optimal performance for your applications.

Adaptable Resin Technology for Every Industrial Process

Our resins are engineered to integrate seamlessly into the most common industrial processes, and we can develop tailored solutions to meet your unique requirements.

Prepreg Technology

Prepreg fibers (carbon, glass, aramid) are pre-impregnated with resin, making them ideal for aeronautical components and parts requiring high mechanical strength and precise geometry.

During polymerization, pressure and heat are applied to the laminate using one of the following methods:

  • Vacuum bagging with oven heating
  • Vacuum bagging with 2–15 bar pressure in an autoclave
  • Press molding with heated platens
  • Expandable or inflatable cores in heated molds

Application Examples: Aerospace, automotive, high-performance composites.

Infusion molding

Losange-Infusion

Vacuum-assisted resin infusion is a reliable process that ensures uniform impregnation for complex shapes. This technique involves vacuum molding between the mold and a rigid, semi-rigid, or flexible counter-mold, depending on the technology used. The reinforcement, such as mats, fabrics, or preforms, is placed inside the mold, while draining fabrics and a vacuum bag are tightly positioned over the tooling. A vacuum pump then creates negative pressure, allowing the resin to migrate through the fabrics along the entire length of the mold. The result is a lightweight, strong, and cost-effective composite part.

Application Examples: Aerospace, automotive, marine, industrial equipment.

Compression molding

Compression molding is a highly efficient process ideal for producing high-strength, large-dimension parts where precision and durability are critical. In this method, a preheated material (typically a thermoset plastic) is placed into a mold cavity. The mold is then closed, and pressure is applied to force the material into the desired shape. Under the combined effect of heat and pressure, the material hardens, ensuring dimensional accuracy and superior mechanical properties. Once cured, the part is de-molded, making compression molding an excellent choice for complex shapes and robust components.

Application Examples: Aerospace, automotive, industrial machinery.
